Yoga is a way of life, it changes you and therefore changes the way you relate to other people and influence your environment. Nowadays, Yoga is often equated with practising physical postures and breathing techniques, and is referred to as Hatha Yoga, which forms only a part of the overall discipline of Yoga. Its popularity is mainly due to the immediately noticeable effect of the Hatha Yoga system, relieving stress and improving fitness, vitality, mental clarity and peace of mind, thus clearing the way to spiritual growth.
At the heart of the Yoga tradition lies the striving for liberation from all suffering through the intense study of the self and disciplined application of a variety of techniques. A careful training of the body is a most beneficial way to cultivate awareness and prepares you for meditation.
Pracitising Yoga means 99 % practice and 1 % theory. Understanding can only be acquired through experience. It means embarking on a journey of exploration of ever-expansive consciousness. The teacher is your guide, helping you to develop a personal routine that will enable the pupil to develop a deeper understanding of self.
The true teacher, however, resides within the heart of each practicioner.
My Yoga classes
The physical Yoga exercises re-establish contact with our body; re-establish contact with Nature, which is to be in contact with the Cosmos.
My Hatha Yoga group classes are built upon a solid foundation of physical practice, breathing awareness and moderate breathing exercises, as well as guided meditation. Exercises are built upon each other, so the student can gradually adopt the physical poses, in order to experience a harmonious unfolding flow of energy. My aim is to release tension, to satisfy the body’s need for movement, to calm mental energy, and to increase both strength as well as compassion in my students, encouraging them to explore their self at their own pace.
My hope is to support those who seek to develop a personal routine. Only when we have confidence in our power, can we be of use to others.
