„A body freed from nervous tension and over-fatigue is the ideal shelter provided by nature for housing a well-balanced mind that is always fully capable of successfully meeting all the complex problems of modern living.” Joseph Pilates (1883-1967)
Pilates is a physical fitness system, developed by Joseph Pilates to ,strengthen the weak and challenge the strong’, as he put it, where the body is not reduced to a functional system of muscles and bones, but where integration of breath and movement brings about the harmonization of body and mind.
By means of controlled movement, a strong core consisting of the muscles of the abdomen, lower back and hips, together with a greater flexibility of the spine, is developed. Intelligent sequences of controlled movement build up, from ,the inside out’, your physical strength and mental concentration.
This method is a modern approach to the classical method, developed over more than 20 years by Moira and Lindsay Merrithew, in collaboration with a team of physiotherapists, sports physicians and fitness experts. Principles of kinematics and spinal rehabilitation have been integrated in the Matwork, Reformer and Cadillac training. Safety, efficiency and diversity ensure highest standards in trainer certification.
Personal training provides the ideal frame for defining training goals optimally, be it after rehabilitation, during pregnancy or supporting competitive athletes.
My Pilates classes
As a fully certified STOTT-Pilates trainer for Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels, I delight in witnessing the progress of my clients. My perception of a successful training session is one that balances challenge and fun. My aim is to convey the understanding of motion sequences as well as the intelligence of the body in movement – success and progress should be noticeable at the physical as well as at the mental level.
